Frances Dee portrays "Betsy Connell" a nurse hired to travel to a Caribbean island to care for the catatonic wife of a local plantation owner. Once there, she does her best for the poor woman as she slowly falls in love with the husband "Paul Holland" (Tom Conway). She decides she must do what she can to help her charge recover and that involves dealing with the local community and using their voodoo.
