Lu Dahai who is fiance of Wei Nan is thrown into the jail by the button men of the Gang of Four for participating in the ceremony of mourning for Zhou Enlai. Out of sympathy, Han Yu, a platelayer supports Wei Nan by means of livelihood and inward needs. The character on the part of Han Yu moves Wei Nan whose heart is on the verge of sinking. And love brought about by mutual sympathy.
