Ambitious (maybe overambitious) Canadian zombie pic, set in Tennessee a few years after the end of the American civil war. The tale is told through the pages of the illustrated journal of our hero, Edward, as he returns home from the war to find a zombie outbreak taking hold, killing his wife and son, and following a brief flirtation with the concept of suicide, his continued attempts to carry on in a zombie (or "Dead-Awake", as he calls them) world. Along the way he meets and helps another guy …

If you start to watch this film expecting it to be another zombie flick you are going to be disappointed. You are more than likely going to find the movie boring and the special effects very poor. It is however far from being yet another cheap zombie movie with a poor script and poor implementation. As a movie it is actually a reasonably well done one. It is, however, more a movie about one mans journey, both physically and psychologically, through a zombie outbreak which kills his wife and son…
