Ultimately, _Ride On_ was the first film of 2023 to make me cry and the first one in a long while – possibly ever! – to make me ugly cry. I really wanted to like Ride On but its syrupy, sentimentalism, left me feeling queasy. I've seen a lot of Asian films and series and my guess is this would play very well, with Asian audiences. This Western reviewer however, found it inaccessible. Too schmaltzy, sugary sentimental, for me to digest. The film plays to Jackie Chan's strengths.
