Kasumi Hiraoka
Biography
Kasumi Hiraoka (born November 29, 1981, in Yao City, Osaka Prefecture) is a Japanese film director, commercial director, music video director, commercial planner, and musician. Her great-uncle is Tamichi Horiuchi, a doctor of literature. After studying at Nara Women’s University Secondary Education School, she graduated from Doshisha University’s Faculty of Letters with a major in aesthetics and art studies, where she began making films. Since 2006, she has created documentaries for the Tokyo Collection brand NOZOMI ISHIGURO. Her 2009 film Doodle Color Town was screened at over 40 international festivals, including the International Film Festival Rotterdam, and won multiple prizes in Japan. She later directed the live showcase Primi Shameful World, which featured collaborations with numerous musicians and gained attention for its large-scale performances. In 2010 and 2013, she gave birth to her first and second daughters. In 2020, her short film series STAY HOME RUNWAY, featuring children’s fashion shows at home, received international recognition. -WIKIPEDIA
