Thụy Vân
Biography
Thụy Vân (May 2, 1940 – March 16, 2023) was a Vietnamese actress and director, best known for her role in "Rising Storm" (Nổi gió, d. Huy Thành & Lê Huyến, 1966). In 1959, she attended the first acting class of the Academy of Theater and Cinema, alongside other actors of her generation: Trà Giang, Lâm Tới, Trần Phương. In 1966, she starred in "Rising Storm", which won the Golden Lotus Award at the 1st Vietnam Film Festival in 1970. Afterwards, Thụy Vân continued to act in films such as "17th Parallel, Days and Nights" (Vĩ tuyến 17 ngày và đêm, d. Hải Ninh, 1972) and "August Star" (Sao tháng Tám, d. Trần Đắc, 1876). "The Black Tornado" (Cơn lốc đen), a film she directed, won the Special Prize at the 8th Vietnam Film Festival in 1988.
