Luke van Gelderen
Biography
Luke van Gelderen (Dublin, b. 1997) is an artist exploring the performance and mediation of contemporary identity online. His multimedia practice, encompassing film, appropriation, sculpture, and image-making, examines themes of authenticity, youth, celebrity, trauma and violence. He has exhibited internationally at the Irish Museum of Modern Art, Dublin; TRIBECA Gallery, NYC; SEAGER, London; Palazzo Bronzo, Genoa; Transmediale, Berlin; The Douglas Hyde Gallery, Dublin; and Pallas Projects, Dublin. He has screened work at FACT, Liverpool; PAF, Olomouc; Goldsmiths; Kunsthaus, Zürich; Kassel Documentary Film and Video Festival and TOXI Space, Zürich. He has been awarded residencies from Callie’s, Berlin; FSAS, Dublin; Kulturforum Witten, Germany; SÍM, Reykjavík; and BEK, Norway. He is a co-founder of CRUX, an off-site curatorial collective. He lives and works between Dublin and Berlin and has been awarded a studio at Temple Bar Gallery + Studios since 2022.
