Biography

Ties Ruber (born 1 July 2006) is a Dutch filmmaker, writer and editor. He is known for his independent short films, which often blend personal themes with humor, everyday situations and stylized storytelling. His work frequently explores themes of growing up, identity and everyday life. Ruber began making films at a young age and has continued developing his work through independent productions and collaborations with small crews. In addition to directing, he regularly writes and edits his own projects, taking them from initial concept to final cut. Alongside filmmaking, Ruber has worked as a video editor and studied Media & Journalism before pursuing Film. He is currently studying Film at the HKU (Utrecht School of the Arts). Ruber began making his first short films in 2025. One of his earliest films, Postpone (2025), follows a student attempting to complete a school assignment while being constantly distracted by everyday interruptions. He later directed Offbeat (2025), a comedy short about a comic book enthusiast who would rather spend the evening reading than attending a party he is reluctantly dragged to. His short film Een Kleine Introductie (2026) helped him gain admission to the HKU, where he continues to develop new projects and collaborate with emerging filmmakers and creatives.
