Shittu Abdulafiz Opeyemi

Biography

Shittu Abdulafiz Opeyemi is a filmmaker based in Lagos. A Nigeria with a keen interest in films, documentary and film editing. He has a bachelor’s degree in Microbiology from University of Ilorin, Kwara state. His love for arts as a form of expression has always been there but he got professionally trained as a film editor in 2020 and since then has gone to work on couple of projects especially ones that matters in shaping the narratives. In 2022, he attended Ebony Creative Academy where he studied Post Production and his project won Best in Editing after leading a team of 4. In 2025, his documentary on "Dodo-Ikire" a documentary that speaks about the resilience of women in Agribusiness from Ikire, Osun state, Nigeria was selected as a finalist and the only film from West Africa that screened at World Food Forum in Rome, Italy. He has worked on a couple of projects ranging from Short-films: The Afterparty, The Oasis, UME (breathe) and more and Documentary films like The Grief, Dodo-Ikire, The Eaglet and recently The rhythm of Ancestors: Yoruba Bàtá which is his debut feature length project.
