Francisco Sagasti

Biography

Francisco Sagasti is an Industrial Engineer, graduated from the National University of Engineering in Lima, Peru. He earned his Master of Science (MSc) in Industrial Engineering from Pennsylvania State University and his PhD in Operations Research and Social Systems Science from the University of Pennsylvania. In Peru, he has been the founder and executive director of GRADE; advisor to the Ministers of Industry, Foreign Affairs, and Education, to the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, and to the National Planning Institute; professor at the University of the Pacific and the Catholic University; member of the National Council of Science and Technology; and advisor to several private companies, public institutions, and non-governmental organizations. He has published more than 25 books and 150 academic articles. He served as President of Peru, by constitutional succession in his capacity as President of Congress, from November 2020 to July 2021. He is a Senior Research Fellow Emeritus at FORO Nacional Internacional.
